Reconstruction of quake-hit residences to be complete in a month11.11.02 00:00

Zanjan, Nov 10 - Deputy Interior Minister for Development Affairs Mohammad Hossein Moqimi announced in Zanjan on Saturday, the reconstruction process of the damaged residences at the quake-hit areas across the country will end in a month. He told IRNA after inspecting the quake-stricken areas of the city of Khodabandeh, Zanjan province, "The material loss inflicted on a total of 23,000 residences in the three provinces of Zanjan, Hamedan and Qazvin as a consequence of the early summer earthquake range between 20 to 100 percent." According to the official, the reconstruction of 1,600 damaged residences have so far been completed and in 2,000 other residences the process of laying foundations, metal skeletons and constructing walls has already been completed. Referring to a credit worth rls 650 billion allocated to the quake-hit areas, he added that a non-return credit worth rls 300 billion has been extended to the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation and the residents of the quake-hit areas. Moqimis said, "The families having lost one of their members in the recent event were donated rls two million, while those with more than one victim received rls five million." He added that a maximum of rls 30 million is allocated to every demolished residence and that allocated to every destructed stable is rls eight million. Deputy to Zanjan province Governor-General in charge of development affairs, Javad Rahmati, said "Ever since Zanjan province was stricken with the quake in early summer, building materials have been delivered at more than 3,600 seriously damaged residences and at more than 1,350 residences the process of laying walls has been completed." Rahmati announced the number of the damaged residences at 2,500 and their destruction rate ranging between 60 and 70 percent. He believes that a credit worth rls 120 billion is required for the reconstruction of the demolished buildings. Fifty two villages across Zanjan province were damaged as a consequence of the early summer earthquake measuring 6.0 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale hitting parts of the country. In a meeting attended by Iran's deputy interior minister, Zanjan province governor-general and mayors of the quake-hit cities across the province, the municipal issues and problems related to the development were discussed.
